RETROFIT
ELECTRONICS MODULE
The
Retrofit Electronics Module has been designed to replace the total
electronics, excepting power supplies, on an Optical Emission Spectrometer.
It takes care of all the operational requirements of the spectrometer,
such as Argon gas control, Source control, Analytical cycle of flush,
pre-burn, burn and read, Fatigue lamp control, Communication with
the computer.
It has the integrators for charge storage, the parametric amplifier
for isolation of the integrators from the A/D converter, a high
speed A/D converter with auto ranging facility, a real time clock
for accurate burn time, a multiplexer for measuring the various
voltages and parameters such as vacuum, temperature, etc, a fatigue
lamp intensity adjustment circuit, and the most important control
center for carrying out the instructions and communicating with
the computer.
The
complete system is housed in a pull out 19" rack sub-assembly, which
will fit into any standard 19" console or bay. There is practically
no hard wiring, all cards are plugged on to a mother board which
serves as an inter-connection between the cards. The pin configurations
of the connectors, on the motherboard, are according to international
standard configuration of the PC. All external connections are directly
on to or from the individual cards. Thus making the system highly
reliable. It has it's own SMPS which supplies all the voltage and
power requirements of the system.
