UNIVERSAL
CONTROLLER
The Universal Controller is a programmable logic controller (PLC)
designed to perform programmed decision making for industrial applications.
It not only replaces interlocking relays but also other discrete
control devices such as stepping switches, sequencers, counters,
etc. The simplicity of reprogramming, when modifications in existing
controls are required, makes it the idle control device.
The programmable controller incorporates a LCD alphanumeric display,
which displays process status, timer values, counter values, process
parameters like temperatures, pressure etc. Process faults, opening/
closing of limit switches, start/ stop of motors etc can be additionally
displayed on a mimic panel to give a visual fast system checkup
as also eliminate enunciators.
The
Universal controller is build around the Intel's 8032 Micro-controller,
operating at 12MHz frequency. It is designed to replace relays,
timers, counters etc. It also measures parameters such as temperatures,
pressure, voltage, etc. All inputs and outputs are optically isolated
from the main processor to make it noise immune and also protect
the processor from stray high voltage pickups. In an extremely noisy
environment an external RF-EMI filter is all that is required. The
unit is housed in a rugged panel mounted aluminium enclosure.
