Rockwool is a product of the most recent innovations in insulation materials technology. Rockwool is manufactured from various types of diabase rock, mainly basalt of specific pre-determined chemical compositions which is melted at superhigh temperatures in a technically advanced but simple process. The resulting natural silicate is drumspun at very high speeds to produce ' hair fine' inert fibres that are bonded together with a special thermosetting resin and impregnated with special additives.
Because of its unique thermal properties, Rockwool has a broad range of service temperatures and meets increasingly strong demands for use in a wide spectrum of application areas such as buildings, offices, hospitals, schools, factories, in all processing, refining, fertilizers and petrochemical industries, offshore drilling facilities, in ships, thermal power stations, steel plants, boiler and turbines, surface transport, appliances, heat exchangers and ESP, HVAC systems, cold storages and many others.

The primary functions of insulation are :
· Heat loss reduction, based on the principle of optimum economic insulation thickness.
· Personal protection, by limiting the surface temperature of the jacket or the covering.
· Protection of person and installations in case of fire.
· Reducing noise levels.
· Controlling temperatures to preserve process conditions or to prevent excess temperature drops.
