New TUpH™ Model 398R Retractable pH/ORP Sensor built for the most aggressive applications

Rosemount Analytical, Uniloc Division, announces the TUpH™ Model 398R Retractable pH/ORP Sensor, the toughest sensor Uniloc has ever built. This newest member of the TUpH family of sensors, uses the highest quality materials and the patented proven TUpH reference technology to provide maximum sensor life and ensure low maintenance in the harshest, dirtiest conditions.

The chemical-resistant construction of Tefzel2, titanium, and the patented reference makes the Model 398R the ideal sensor for tackling the most aggressive applications. This unique construction not only stands up to the harshest chemicals, like chlorine dioxide used in bleaching towers, but it also resists other organic solvents and oxidizing agents. The sensor can be tailor made with either Kalrez2 or Viton2 seals, depending on the particular process requirement. The retractable design allows the sensor to be removed for calibration and maintenance without process shutdown.

The Model 398R Sensor with the industry proven TUpH technology practically eliminates drifting pH readings, a common problem for sensors in dirty, coating process streams containing organic solvents. The Model 398R Sensor, with its Tefzel reference junction, resists plugging because the sensor's junction pores are 10 to 15 times smaller than the average pore size of most other manufacturers’ sensor junctions. The larger porous junctions will plug, and cause a noisy, drifting pH reading and result in increased maintenance. With the Model 398R the particles don’t block the smaller pores and a more steady, accurate pH reading is made possible and with fewer calibrations. The sensor's ACCUGLASS™ pH bulb also resists cracking and has near theoretically perfect response even at extreme pH values. Combining these chemical-resistant materials with the TUpH reference technology and the ACCUGLASS pH bulb makes measuring pH easier and more accurate even in harsh and demanding applications.

A new solition for reliable &automated cleaning of the  pH Sensors

Rosemount Analytical, Uniloc Division, offers a new solution for reducing operating costs of troublesome pH sensors with the new automated rotary valve assembly, PASVE pH Valve. This new valve provides maximum sensor life and reduced maintenance costs in abrasive or dirty applications often found in the Pulp and Paper, Chemical, and Mining industries.

Automatic cleaning is possible with the PASVE pH due to its unique and patented design. The PASVE pH, when used in conjunction with Rosemount Analytical's Model 54 pH/ORP's integral timer, eliminates the need for routine maintenance by a plant operator. The cleaning sequence is initiated by the programmable signal from the Model 54. A PLC (programmable logic controller), or DCS (distributive control system), receives the signal and subsequently sends out an electrical contact to the pneumatically operated valve for an automatic cleaning. This procedure allows for a continuous process flow while ensuring an efficient and reliable cleaning, all within one loop.

With its frequent cleaning, the PASVE pH increases the accuracy and reliability of the pH sensor. Sensor life is also extended because the sensor, when it is not in use, is stored in the wash port in water. Another advantage to automatic cleaning means maintenance can be performed under high pressures, eliminating the need to disrupt the process operating parameters. It also means reduced operator exposure to harsh and corrosive chemicals.

Rosemount Analytical Enhances the GCX Process Gas Chromatograph Transmitter

The Process Analytic Division of Rosemount Analytical has added significant new features to its GCX Process Gas Chromatograph Transmitter. These new features include increased diagnostic capability, split screen chromatograms for dual carrier applications and improved stream selection programming and
control functions.

The GCX now offers an optional Flame Ionization Detector (FID) supported by a Methanizer for low level oxides of carbon analysis. A vaporizing liquid sample inject valve (VLSIV) is also available for either Thermal Conductivity Detector (TCD) or FID applications.

Breaking a 50-year technology barrier, the GCX is the first industrial gas chromatograph in
a field-mount transmitter configuration that incorporates many of the features of traditional process chromatographs. Housed in a Class 1, Zone 1, IIB +H2 rated enclosure, the GCX is suitable for applications in hazardous areas, and does not require an instrument shelter. In addition, the GCX design eliminates the need for continuous purge, reducing both installation and operating costs. The GCX is also much smaller and lighter than traditional huge process chromatographs, allowing simplified installation closer to the process, reducing sample lag time and eliminating expensive heated sample line runs.

The GCX features a modular design with dual isolated compartments that physically separate the instrument electronicfrom the sample analysis section. The modular design also allows for easy troubleshooting and replacement of component parts, both electronic and chromatographic. The GCX Easy-Slide oven and chromatography assembly can be removed and replaced in minutes, greatly reducing analyzer down time.
