FERTILIZER PDIL has executed most of the large ammonia, urea plants in India. It is difficult to visualise the growth profile of the Indian fertilizer industry without plotting PDIL's multifunctinal role in engineering the growth. PDIL has been involved in all fertilizer project since 1961, the scope of its participation enlarging with every successive assignment. Today, PDIL has emerged as prime agency for the engineering and construction of fertilizer plants in India. India is now third in the world in installed capacity of nitrogenous fertilizers. Over two-third of the installed capacity for nitrogenous fertilizers in India is engineered and constructed by PDIL. |

PDIL's involvement has been almost total in the string of 1,350 tpd ammonia/2,200 tpd urea giant gas-based fertilizer projects at Thal, Vijaipur, Aonla, Jagdishpur, Hazira (urea only), Babrala, Gadepan and Shahjahanpur, built along the 1,700 km HBJ gas pipeline starting from design, detailed engineering, procurement, inspection expediting, supervision of construction and commissioning. PDIL is the only firm in the world to have handled such an impressive string of large-sized gas-based fertilizer projects. For phosphatic fertilizers, PDIL has the requisite expertise, covering concept to commissioning. Nitrophosphate and TSP plants have been designed and engineered by PDIL. Phosphoric acid plants have been executed by PDIL based on a collaboration agreement with Nissan of Japan, Nissan and PDIL have a licensed arrangement for DAP technology. PDIL can offer self-developed state-of-the art technologies for SSP and mixing-granulation plants. |

PDIL has executed LPG terminal for receiving and storing LPG in double-walled at atmospheric pressure and at -45'C temperature for a dispatch of about 0.6 million MT of LPG per year |

PDIL has also executed project where LPG is imported at ambient temperature and stored in pressurised bullets before disposal by road transport. At Sikka, facilities have been provided for the receipt, transport and storage of LPG in refrigerated storage tanks at atmospheric pressure with complete refrigeration and liquefaction arrangements for import and despatch of about 0.4 million LPG per year. |

CHEMICALS ACIDS AND SALTS PDIL has long standing know-how and experience of design and execution of various acids and salt plants. A brief summary of different plants is given below: SULPHURIC ACID: PDIL has executed sulphuric acid plant with technology of its own. PDIL's DCDA technology is working successfully at BCPW, near Calcutta. OLEUM: PDIL's technology offers high-grade products with least pollution and high-energy efficiency. |

AMMONIUM SULPHATE: For ammonium sulphate, PDIL's project experience covers all possible routes such as direct neutralisation, by-product recovery from waste liquors and Merseberg routes. |

| AMMONIUM NITRATE::
Ammonium nitrate plants (low and high density)
have been engineered and commissioned, based on PDIL's own neutralisation
as well as prilling technologies.
India's biggest CAN production facility at SAIL, Rourkela, has been built and expanded with PDIL's process know how, design, engineering and execution capability. AMMONIUM BICARBONATE:  :Three plants have been successfully executed with PDIL's process know how and engineering.SODIUM NITRITE/NITRATE: Two plants are working with PDIL's know how and engineering. The third is working with PDIL's process license. Technology developed by PDIL offers Nitrite/Nitrate ratio as high as 3:1. |

| METHANOL PLANTS: PDIL has proven its expertise in designing and executing methanol plants. License from Haldor Topsoe of Denmark can be arranged for prospective entrepreneurs. PDIL also has its own process know how and renders design, engineering and consultancy services for revamping. |

HYDROGEN PLANTS: By virtue of having a unique data bank, software and engineering capability in this area, PDIL can offer hydrogen plants, based on a state-of-the-art approach. PDIL was involved as Indian engineering contractors for design, engineering and procurement services including site supervision work for a naphtha-based plant at NFL, Nangal.HEAVY WATER: For the Department of Atomic Energy and BARC, PDIL has successfully designed and engineered two heavy water plants, based on the ammonia-water exchange process. |

| Water Treatment Plant | PDIL has proven expertise and know how for Pre-Treatment system, DM Water Plant, Desalination by reverse osmosis and condensate polishing. |
| Effluent Treatment | PDIL's experience covers a wide spectrum of effluents from fertilizer plants. The services of the effluent engineering group in some instances have been extended to clients, based on systems developed by PDIL from studies on samples in PDIL's laboratories in Sindri. | Urea Hydrolyser-Stripper | In these installations, ammonia and carbon dioxide are recovered from the liquid effluent of the urea plant, extending the additional benefit of pollution abatement. PDIL has its own high efficiency thermal hydrolyser process, proven at the NFL plant in Nangal and at HFC in Namrup. |
