These are held on an All India basis. Vacancies for such posts are ascertained from the user departments located in this region from time to time. The user departments also on their own report the vacancies available with them. These vacancies are intimated to our headquarters who in turn compile the same for the country as a whole. Notices for the open competitive examinations are published by the Commission in the Employment News and Rozgar Samachar. Abridged versions of the same are also published in leading newspapers all over the country. Our open competitive examinations are always conducted on Sundays.

Applications relating to centres in this region are scrutinised by us on the basis of the eligibility criterion and admission certificates are issued to eligible candidates. We make all arrangements for the conduct of the examinations in our region. This includes selection of venues , appointment of Supervisors, Invigilators and other staff, payment of advances to supervisors, liason with the State Govt., District Administraton, Postal authorities and other agencies involved,etc. Officers drawn from various Central Govt. offices are appointed as Inspecting Officers to oversee the conduct of the examinations.

Candidates qualifying in the Examinations are required to appear in interviews or skill tests. Candidates fom this region who are successful on the basis of the final results declared by the Commission are nominated by us to various user offices located in this region. Results of the examinations are available on the Commissions's website at http://ssc.nic.in. Nominations are made on a random basis.
